About Attorney General Chris Carr:
Carr was sworn into office on November 2016. As Georgia’s Attorney General, he believes there is no more solemn duty than to protect and defend the United States Constitution and the Constitution and laws of the state of Georgia.
Carr also believes in a results-oriented style of public policy and has worked closely with the legislative branch to ensure that we have the strongest statutes and best resources to eradicate human trafficking, fight federal overreach, combat opioid abuse, crack down on organized crime, protect older and at-risk adults and keep government open and transparent. His efforts have already generated real results.
A dedicated public servant, Carr had traveled to 135 cities working to let the people of Georgia know what the office does and can do for them. He has also worked with officials at the Department of Law to expand training efforts and share expertise with statewide partners. For example, Carr launched a statewide Open Government Tour as part of a larger effort to educate members of local communities, elected officials, state record keepers, and others about their duties and responsibilities under Georgia’s Open Meetings Act and Open Records Act.
Carr is a member of the National Association of Attorneys General and serves on the executive committee of the Republican Attorneys General Association.
