AG Carr Announces Growing Support from Georgia Law Enforcement

August 29, 2018

ATLANTA — Attorney General Chris Carr today announced a second wave of law enforcement endorsements from Sheriffs and prosecutors across the state, with 110 leaders in law enforcement across Georgia backing Carr for the November 6 election.

“Law Enforcement for Carr” is one of the rapidly growing grassroots organizations for Attorney General Carr. The full list of “Law Enforcement for Carr” endorsements can be found here.

“I’m thrilled that we’re continuing to earn strong support from our law enforcement community. I am proud to stand with them to protect Georgians each day as we continue to work together to find new and innovative ways to confront human trafficking, opioid and elder abuse, cyber crimes and gang activity,” said Carr. “Every member of Georgia’s law enforcement community has my respect and gratitude, and I look forward to working with law enforcement for many years to come.”

To date, Carr has earned the support of 82 Georgia Sheriffs and 28 District Attorneys.

In his April endorsement, Georgia Sheriff’s Association President and Peach Co. Sheriff Terry Deese said, “I have been consistently impressed with how well Chris understands our work and challenges, especially facing modern criminals and threats. Opioids, cyber crime and so many criminal activities have implications far beyond the obvious, immediate impacts. Chris has taken these challenges head-on, and I know he has our backs.”

As Attorney General, Carr’s first and foremost job is protecting and upholding the Constitutions of Georgia and the United States.

Soon after taking office, Carr was named to the Human Trafficking Committee of the National Association of Attorneys General. Carr has backed legislation that has strengthened efforts to prosecute human traffickers and those who patronize or solicit victims of this modern-day slavery in addition to helping end online child and sex trafficking.

Carr is tackling head-on the problems that touch Georgia families and small businesses: opioid abuse, human trafficking, gang activity, cyber crime and elder abuse. He is bringing together top law enforcement officials from across the state and all levels of government to use his signature “all-in” approach to fight to protect Georgia, and his efforts are generating real results.
